Candle and Cosmetic Fragrances: All of our Candle & Cosmetic fragrance oils are suitable for use in soap and cosmetic products, candles, oil burners, lamp rings, incense, reed diffusers, room and linen sprays, pot pourri, aroma beads, simmering granules, air fresheners, and all home fragrancing. Some of our fragrance oils are manufactured in the UK, and some are imported from the US. They all comply with EU regulations, and are suitable for use in melt and pour soap bases, cold process soap making, and other bath and body care products. If you make and sell your cosmetic products, our fragrance oils can be included in your Safety Assessments without the need for additional allergen testing. A duty of care will always fall on you as the cosmetic manufacturer to ensure that the oils you use to fragrance your product are legally compliant. You will find downloadable MSDS data sheets, allergen data, and IFRA statements on our MSDS page. All of our fragrance oils are suitable for use in paraffin, vegetable and soy wax, and there are a few which are suitable for gel candles. None of our fragrance oils are suitable for lip balms; we have a separate page for Flavour Oils. None of our fragrances are tested on animals, nor do they contain any animal ingredients. We also supply Allergen Free fragrances, Pthalate-Free fragrances, Gel Safe fragrances, Candle Only fragrances, and Cosmetic Only fragrances, all listed below.
Allergen Free Fragrances: This group of fragrance oils is referred to as “allergen-free" or "allergens not declarable” fragrances because these oils are formulated so that the listed allergens are either excluded or fall below declarable thresholds at given inclusion levels. The allergen sheets for these fragrances state "No allergens". These allergen free fragrances are suitable for use in candles as well as cosmetics, but please bear in mind they are generally much lighter and you may need to increase your fragrance % or add stearin if you can. You'll find these in their own category on our Shop page.
Phthalate Free Fragrances: This section contains all of our phthalate-free fragrances. Phthalates are chemical plasticizers that have been widely used since the 1950s to soften plastics. Because phthalates are not chemically bound to the plastics they're added to, they're continuously released into the air, food or liquid. Phthalates are found in a very large array of products. In personal care items they're used to help lubricate other substances, help lotions penetrate and soften the skin, and help fragrances last longer. They're also used in toys, electronics, car-care products, insecticides, and many household products. You'll find these in their own category on our Shop page. Some of the more common phthalates to look out for when checking MSDS and product labels are as follows:
- DBP (dibutyl phthalate)
- DNOP (di-n-octyl phthalate)
- DiNP (diisononyl phthalate)
- DEP (diethyl phthalate)
- BBzP (benzyl butyl phthalate)
- DEHP (di 2-ethylhexl phthalate)
- DiDP (diisodecyl phthalate)
- DnHP (di-n-hexyl phthalate)
- DMP (dimethyl phthalate)
- DnOP (di-n-octylphthalate)
- Bisphenol A (BPA) is also a plasticizer.
